New songs, coming your way… (Taken with instagram)
“Fear nothing, admit your missteps, and treasure the Journey.”
Hello Ohio #fb (Taken with instagram)
In 2011, I wrote one song a week for three months about anything my fans could dream up, and gave them all away for FREE.
I’m back at it again, and making it bigger than ever. Once a month, I will pick an idea / story / piece of inspiration that was submitted here and write, record, and shoot a music video for a completely new song!
From filmmaker and fan collaborations to contests and deeper interaction, this year’s songwriting campaign is gonna be one for the record books! At the end of it, you’ll walk away with 5 new songs and music videos, downloadable for FREE.
…and it all starts with You. So go ahead… tell me your Story.

Exciting announcement coming your way tomorrow… (Taken with instagram)

Eight years ago, I left college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music. Untested and honestly, quite naive, I spent the next three years using money from designing websites freelance to ineffectively tour as an artist around the country, gigging myself into over $6k of high interest credit card debt. Embarrassed and defeated, I stopped writing, I stopped playing music outside of my home, and my answer to “what do you do?” begrudgingly changed from music to websites.
Fast forward to today and I’ve been debt free for over 2 years. Within that time, I self-funded my own full-length record from cash and recently started a music marketing company to promote independent artists. I took 2 months, wrote/recorded and shot a video for one song a week about anything my blog readers submitted and released them all for FREE, and I’m currently in the process of booking the most extensive tour I’ve ever played.
How did I do it? I want to show you and show that you can too with 5 simple rules.

Facebook Fun for a Happy Holiday!
Outside of being a Musician and Songwriter, I’m probably one of the geekiest designers you’ll ever meet. Usually, this enables me to help other artists promote themselves or make ridiculous video promotions for when my friends and I play music together… but every now and then, I’ll dive into something even goofier.
Take my Facebook Holiday Cover, for instance. What better way to ring in the New Year than with a new timeline… and unofficial uses of image space!
For those of you who are slightly Photoshop savvy, I’ve made a template for you to create your own artwork as well.
Download it here:

Be safe this week if you’re traveling for the Holiday and come on back in a few days… there’s a lot brewing on the music front for 2012, including a Big Announcement!
More soon.

Dear Michael, I know that you haven't been able to do a T-Pain friday in a while, but (if it is at all possible) I would really like to see a T-Pain song next Friday. I will be finished with my finals, and T-Pain seems like the best way to celebrate!
Thanks so much for the message! You’re right, it’s been quite a while since we’ve put one out, mostly because Danny no longer lives in Nashville and is constantly touring and I’ve been keeping up with my own tour schedule…
… but, we’ve have been concocting plans to attempt a remote T-Pain Friday for some time now, and I can’t think of a better time. I’ll see what we can come up with! [Danny Young, this means you!]
All the best,
Michael
