  • Host:

Son, I really like what you're doing. Remember one thing for me, though.

  • Me:

    Absolutely, what's that?

  • Host:

You don't do this for the money... or for the fame. You do this to change people's souls.

Group Workcamps

I’d like to introduce all of you to my reason for not Twittering, Facebooking, or blogging as much this week.  I’m spending the week volunteering as a Song Leader at a camp in Rocester, NY put on by Group Workcamps.  Group is an awesome organization that is helping to make some amazing changes in the lives of the campers, the residents they are helping, and each community they are able to work in.  I’m proud to get to call myself part of a superb team.

If you get the chance to, check out the link and see what they’re all about.  If you dig what they’re doing, feel free to volunteer next year!

I’ll get back to music next week with some photos and videos from the great show we did at Canal Street. Have a great week, everyone!

Dying To Live (acoustic)

With the help of my great friend Robin Giannattasio behind the camera, Paul and I shot an acoustic version of my new single “Dying To Live.” Shot exclusively using an iPhone4, it came out pretty decently considering the low lighting in my cozy front room.

For those of you coming out this weekend in Ohio, think of this as a sneak preview.  For those of you who don’t already have a copy of this track… tsk tsk. Click above and grab one for FREE. Then share it with your friends.

Lyrics:

Beep beep, 6 AM
It’s the same old song and dance
By the time you get to 9
All your dreams don’t stand a chance

One more day and you’re feeling locked in
Your heart clocked out before you even clocked in

CHORUS:
Oh, you tell me that you’re trying just to live
But you’re dying to live a little more
Oh, oh
Oh, you can be anything, you can be everything
So what you waiting for
Oh, oh
You’re Dying to Live

Lonely girl in the world
With her mouth around a silver spoon
Mom and Dad and all they had
A little love could not come too soon

18 candles she can make her
Great escape, if they don’t break her

CHORUS

Doesn’t it tear you up inside?
Doesn’t it leave you wanting more?
You never know until you try
What’s behind that open door.

CHORUS

The only normal people are the ones you don’t know very well.
