Early Holiday Cheer 

Happy November, my friends.  As we get closer and closer to the Holiday season [who am I kidding, some of you have already started decorating… go on… you know you have], I find myself searching for that ONE Holiday tune that’ll set the mood for the season.  A few years back, I decided to make my own instead, and now I’d like to share that with you!

From now until January 1, 2012 I’m giving away my cover of the Holiday classic “Angels We Have Heard On High” on my Website… right here… as in, go grab it now.  I hope it sets you in the Holiday spirit as we move into the season of baking turkey, battling lines at shopping malls [not for me, thank you Amazon], and being thankful for all the loved ones around us, just like I’m thankful to each of you.

Kenny Foster, who has been basically a brother to me for years, recently released his music video “Hometown” which is soon to be debuting on GAC and CMT.  He and I have shot goofy videos [lots of them], played countless shows, and rock & rolled together more times than I can count, and I couldn’t be happier to see this video it’s well deserved attention.

Though written for his hometown of Joplin, MO after it was decimated by a tornado this Summer, I think “Hometown” resonates with all of us who understand and can appreciate where we’ve come from.

A question was brought to my attention after a chat with a friend, and I’m not sure I have an answer…  So of course, I’ll turn to you.  It went something like this:

Friend: Spotify and Rdio both seem to either limit your amount of free music or play ads. I guess I’ll have to switch back and forth between them.

Me: Or you could just pay for one?

Friend:  We pay after we know it’s good. We listen for free. Isn’t that the new standard?

Honestly? My advice would be don’t.

My question for you is, what does it mean to you to get “signed”? And what are you expecting out of it?  I can tell you from working at a label and with labels before, it’s probably not gonna be what you were expecting…
