While this may not interest my usual readers, here’s a little something to please the geek inside all of you.
I was at the gym the other day when on came American Idol, the world’s most horrible A&R department. Realizing that the only thing between these kids and super stardom was a few million phone calls, I had an idea.
Enter => Skype Hammer
Skype Hammer is a little Applescript / Automator app that I wrote to work with the Skype API. It does one thing, and it does it well: calls one phone number for eternity. Right now I only have a Mac OSX Leopard version, but it shouldn’t be hard to make other compatible versions.
DIRECTIONS:
- Download the package from the link above or by clicking here. Inside resides two apps. One is used for plain dialing. The other is used in the case of a busy signal. [I found that, on American Idol, etc, if you call before the line is open, you’ll get a busy signal. Skype doesn’t register this as a “no answer” and won’t hang up. This version merely waits for a 10sec timeout]
- Run Skype and sign into your account.
- Run Skype Hammer, and enter the number you want to Hammer.[Note, I’ve only used this on 1-800 numbers, so don’t get mad at me if you are charge lots of money or your account gets cancelled for war dialing… I just made the app!]
That should do it! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
If you like this app, do me a favor and buy some of my music in support!
